Description
At least 126 martyrs were reported today, mostly in Damasus, Aleppo and Deir Ezzor, where shelling killed at least 20 people in the town of al-Quriyah. With the FSA taking over Ras al-Ayn but expecting a regime counter-attack, and anti-regime protesters in Kobani being attacked by the PYD (Kurdish branch of PKK), predominantly Kurdish areas in the North and North-East look increasingly divided and increasingly restless. Meanwhile, 11,000 Syrians reportedly fled the country in the last 24 hours, while aid organisations are mostly failing to help the estimated 2.5 million people currently in need, which the Red Cross predicts will incease to 4 million people in the next few months. The SNC has elected a new leader – George Sabra – but does this even matter anymore? See the map for more info.
