Description
At least 128 martyrs have fallen, mostly in Hama where Assad couldn’t allow the city to spend Ramadan without at least 1 massacre. Despite the fact that 1,000 people are being killed by Assad’s forces a week the protests continue across teh country, even in areas under shelling. Russia has made a new deal with the regime to exchange crude oil for diesel which it desperately needs to keep the military running. The few friends of Assad supplying guns, fuel and political cover (mainly Russia, China, Iran, Venezuela) continue to outweigh the more than 130 “Friends of Syria” providing moral support to the revolution. Please forgive us for not getting too excited by about the passing of another non-binding resolution in the UN General Assembly but if the last 17 months have taught us one thing, it is that talk is very very cheap, almost as cheap as Syrian blood.
