WHO WE ARE

The Assistance Coordination Unit (ACU) is a national Syrian non-government, non-political, non-profit institution focused on maximizing the impact of assistance delivered to the Syrian people by coordinating the efforts of donors, implementing agencies, and community representatives.

WHAT WE DO
* Information management: Through our Information Management Unit (IMU), we collect, analyze, and share information on the humanitarian and developmental situation in Syria to strengthen the decision-making capacity of aid actors responding to the Syrian crisis. Our informational products include maps, daily situation reports, flash reports, camp monitoring reports, monthly reports (food- price index), annual dynamic monitoring reports, and thematic reports.
* Advocacy: We build on information gathered by the UMU to raise awareness on critical humanitarian and development needs of the Syrian people and mobilize resources to respond to them.
* Project Coordination: We serve as a platform between aid agencies and the Syrian people to facilitate effective and transparent assistance delivery.
* Monitoring and Evaluation: We offer a range of monitoring and evaluation services to measure the impact of assistance delivered to the Syrian people.
* Capacity Building: We build our local partners’ institutional capacity to ultimately improve their own ability to directly aid the Syrian people.

THE ACU AT A GLANCE
* The ACU has 472 field staff members across every province in Syria including ISIS- and Regime-held areas.
* The ACU signed 1906 Memorandum of Understanding with Local Councils and NGOs across Syrian.
* The ACU mobilized and coordinated over US$ 250 million in assistance to the Syrian people.
* Launched a number of key initiatives including the Early Warning Alert and Response Network (EWARN) for the surveillance and control of contagious diseases, the Food Security and Livelihood Program (FSLP), and Al Hayat Program for supporting civil defense operations.
