Press Statement: Assad's Forces Drop Explosive Barrels on Tariq al-Bab and al-Sakhour in Aleppo

The Assad regime, in response to the Free Syrian Army's recent advances on several fronts across Syria, is trying to cover up its losses by viscously shelling civilians in liberated areas. The regime has always followed a policy of reprisal against civilians to distract the FSA's attention while fighting on different fronts and to put pressure on the social base of the revolution.

On Saturday, November 23, Assad's forces dropped explosive barrels on the Tariq al-Bab neighbourhood in Aleppo and launched surface-to-surface missiles on the al-Sakhour neighborhood. Scores of civilians died in both neighborhoods, and others were injured. Entire buildings were flattened burying innocent civilians underneath.

The deliberate massacres carried out by the Assad regime on a daily basis, in addition to the flagrant violations of international laws and conventions related to times of war plainly demonstrate how the Assad regime, and its allies, are trying to thwart efforts aimed to convene a conference to find a political solution in Syria.

We ask for Mercy for our martyrs, health for our wounded, and freedom for our detainees.
