INCREASING CASES OF CIVILIANS ARBITRARY EXECUTED BY SNIPERS AWAY FROM DEMONSTRATIONS There has been many reports about the raids that the security forces and the Syrian army conducted in different neighborhood and towns in Syria after Syrian people take the streets in demonstrations. During these raids, there has been many reported incidents that men and women were sniped at in the streets for no specific reasons. On Thursday May, 31st, 2012 the security forces and the army raided the city of Darayya. It is believed that the raid was triggered by the numerous anti-government protests organized in the city the days before. During the raid, at least10 persons were killed and 30 arrested and brought to unknown location. According to residents, many security men and many snipers wearing civil clothes took position on the roofs of the buildings on May, 30th, 2012. On the following day, at 8:30am Mrs Fadwa Adwi was targeted by a sniper in front of her house near Abbass mosque, Daryya, Damascus suburbs in front of her house while she was with her two children and her husband in their way to her child's school to get his certificate. She was holding her son's hand while her husband was carrying her four months old son and they were waiting for the school bus. She was sniped in her head for no reason. The eyewitnesses believed that the air force security forces (which is the branch responsible about all the security issues in Daryya area) are the one which is responsible about the execution When the victim Fadwa fell on the ground, her husband started screaming and people gathered around them and she was taken to the closest hospital but she was already dead. Her family was forced to burry Fadwa quickly and they were asked by the Syrian authority to sign a statement which says that the armed gangs are the one who killed Fadwa, yet her family refused to sign. Recent reports indicate other cases of unarmed civilians targeted by snipers for the only apparent reason that they live in a region where anti-government protests have taken place. On Monday June, 4th, 2012 Wafaa Alhamwi was targeted by a sniper in Mlaiha, Damascus suburb while she was buying bread from the bakery. Wafaa was displaced from Bab draib, Homs to Mlaiha. On Tuesday June, 5th, 2012, Gosn Abdalkader was targeted by a sniper in Douma, Damascus suburbs while she was in a taxi in her way to the hospital to give birth since she is pregnant in her ninth month. These cases indicate that arbitrary executions of many men and women by snipers has become as a pattern around Syria while the security forces and the Syrian army raid areas where the activists are holding demonstrations. The United Nations should carry out urgent investigations on the arbitrary executions by snipers of Syrian civilians even away from demonstrations.
