  Homs: Summary from Thursday, October 20, 2011 From the heat of Misrata… Homs gets hotter! Despite the bullets, the injuries, the arrests, the miserable conditions, and while the residents of Homs are washing the streets with their blood, Homs gets more medals of honor for all it is going through. The gunfire has been going on all day in Al-Khaldiyeh, Al-Bayada, Al-Nazeheen, Al-Seteen street, and some towns around Homs. There number of those wounded was greatest in Heet, Sakarja, Al-Burhaniyeh, and Al-Qusayr. There are more than 20 missing and 6 confirmed martyrs today from different areas. The martyrs are Walid Harfoush, Muhammad Deeb Othman, 3 from Al-Hameed family, and a woman from Deir Balba. The exact numbers are difficult to confirm because of the inability to move around or communicate. There were home raids and arrests in Deir Balba this morning amid gunfire, and some of the neighborhood homes were destroyed. In Karm Al-Zeitoun, explosions and gunfire were heard all day, and in each of Bab Al-Sbaa, Bab Houd, Bab Al-Draib, and Baba Amro, checkpoints continue on firing in and at the neighborhoods. Today, the Assad forces raided some of the farms and destroyed their crops, and arrested many of the residents. More than 50 armored vehicles, 30 soldier-carrying trucks, and a large number of accompanying car are currently in Al-Qusayr. Some homes went up in flames and others were destroyed in Al-Qusayr and surrounding towns. Some of the Assad forces were also deployed to the towns of Al-Dabaa and Al-Bayoda Al-Sharqiyeh. The towns are now surrounded, and with power outages and severed communications. Conditions are very difficult, roads to the towns are blocked, and moving within the towns is near impossible. This operation against Al-Qusayr and surrounding towns is still going on and conditions are miserable. In addition, reports and news are nearly impossible to obtain. Conditions continue to be miserable in Homs, with the sounds of pain rising above the bullets so the world may take notice. The women of Baba Amro and other neighborhoods in Homs went out demonstrating today before its men, the students demonstrate during the day, and the young men go out at night, all of them asking the world to break the silence.
